Los Angeles Valley College celebrated the opening its new Mosaic Village: Unity Center, which is the new home the 91快活林 Dream Resource Center, Rainbow Pride Center, Puente Program, and Basic Needs Center, in Campus Center 127. 鈥淲e appreciate everyone joining together to celebrate the opening of our new Unity Center and ensuring that all of our students, including our students who are Dreamers, LGBTQIA+, and/or experiencing basic needs insecurities are welcome and have a truly safe space. We remain united and resolute in support of our students.鈥 Dr. Barry Gribbons, president, Los Angeles Valley College.

The Mosaic Village brings together the college鈥檚 support programs for Dreamers, LGBTQIA+, Latinx, and those who seek basic needs services:

鈥淚 am thrilled that Los Angeles Valley College is creating an inclusive space for all our students to feel welcome and have a sense of belonging,鈥 said Chancellor Francisco Rodriguez. 鈥淔ulfilling the inclusive mission of 91快活林, Mosaic Village will be the first in the district to provide students with a community-inclusive safe location. I look forward to seeing how this resource will provide an affirming hub.鈥

鈥淎s an alumna of Valley College and as someone that advocates for all our students, I am proud to represent and support the new Mosaic Village,鈥 adds 91快活林 Board member Andra Hoffman. 鈥淲e need more spaces like this that meet the social and emotional needs of our students.鈥

This location expands upon the existing support services available at the Mosaic Center: Umoja Black Scholars Program for 91快活林 students of color, and Mosaic Center: Veteran Services supporting active duty service members, veteran and their families.
